SEASONS OF ROK

2020-21
ROK's 13th Season
ANA Y SU SOMBRA
by Gabriela Ortiz

Libretto by Mónica Sánchez

During its first two seasons, ROK presented original programs that featured a sampling of opera arias in a variety of languages, which introduced kids to a wide array of characters and styles.  Since then, ROK has presented condensed versions of classic operas, such as Dido and Aeneas, as well as operas designed specifically for children, like Rufus and Rita.  Through generous grants and donations, ROK has sustained an exciting commission series to expand the repertoire available for young audiences.

Black lives matter.

As an organization, ROK is striving to know better and do better.

As artists, we hear, see, and lift up our siblings of color.

And as human beings, we sing out that we must reimagine not only what our art form can be, but much more; what our society must be, locally, nationally, and globally.
