Reimagining Opera for Kids is a non-profit community arts and education organization based in Bloomington, Indiana. Since 2007, ROK has commissioned and sourced a unique repertoire of opera designed for young audiences. Our goals are to introduce children and youth to opera through free or accessibly subsidized performances and curriculum guides, and to give musicians the opportunity to hone and share their performance skills through community engagement.
ROK is excited to announce an ongoing partnership with the Metropolitan Opera to bring the Met’s Live in HD broadcasts to area schools! Through this program, teachers are provided with free access to the Met's curricular materials and resources, and their students are invited to the Met’s performances and other “Day Out” activities on the day of the live broadcasts. To check your school or program's eligibility to participate in the partnership, contact us!

Started by Kimberly Carballo, ROK is a community partner in service learning for Indiana University students, as well as a home performing troupe for community singers and instrumentalists of all ages. ROK has been enthusiastically received in Indiana elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as public libraries, home-school groups, hospitals, and community centers. ROK is grateful for these partners and those who support our work in the region, including a growing partnership with the Jacobs School of Music and the IU Center for Rural Engagement, and several seasons' of support from the City of Bloomington Arts Commission.
