Alexandra lucasAlexandra Lucas has enjoyed making music an important part of her life for many years. She was previously a member of ROK from 2013 until 2017, and greatly enjoyed playing Young Maria in Maria de Buenos Aires, Tamino in The Magic Flute, and Rufus in Rufus and Rita. During her childhood years, she enjoyed being a member of the Indiana University Children’s Choir, where she performed in IU operas La Bohème, Der Rosenkavalier, Cendrillon and
Falstaff. She was a member of her high school’s choir for two years and was also a student of Alice Hopper, Senior Lecturer in Music at the Jacobs School. She is currently a rising sophomore at Valparaiso University, where she is majoring in education and minoring in psychology. She is currently taking a year off from college, to work and travel. |
Caroline goodwinCaroline Goodwin is a sophomore at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where she is studying vocal performance with Patricia Havranek. Caroline most recently appeared in Hairspray as Lou Ann at ISU Crossroads Repertory Theater. Other roles include Maria in West Side Story, Mrs. Mayor in Seussical the Musical, and Liesl von Trapp in The Sound of Music.

Laura Schneider
Laura Schneider is a Mezzo-Soprano from Maryland, currently pursuing a dual degree in Library Science and Information Science at Indiana University Bloomington. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance from The College of Wooster in Ohio and is thrilled to be returning to such a supportive and talented group of ROKers for a second year, having portrayed the roles of Hare, Mouse, Wind, and Sun in Tony Plog’s Aesop’s Fables, and Dr. Bruno in Plog’s Spirits just last year. Laura has performed in and assistant stage managed various shows with The Ohio Light Opera and Cardinal Stage and was a four-year member of her alma mater’s opera workshop. Past performances include Le Nozze di Figaro (Cherubino), The Tales of Hoffmann (Niklausse), Friederike (Christel), Roman Fever (Grace), and Wuthering Heights (Nelly). When she is not singing, Laura can be found planning out her week, reading, baking, exercising, and working at the circulation desk at the Cook Music Library. After receiving her graduate degrees, Laura hopes to move to Chicago to continue performing and immerse herself in a career revolving around literature. Laura studies voice with Amanda Russo-Stante.

lauren bernofskyLauren Bernofsky's music has been performed across the United States as well as internationally in major venues from Carnegie Hall to Grieg Hall in Bergen, Norway. Her works are published by The FJH Music Company, Hal Leonard, Grand Mesa, Balquhidder Music, Fatrock Ink, Carl Fischer, Theodore Presser, Alfred Publishing, and Boosey & Hawkes. She holds degrees from the Hartt School, New England Conservatory, and Boston University, where she earned a doctorate in composition. Her music can be heard on the Polarfonia, Emeritus, Music to My Ears, MSR Classics, Blue Griffin, Summit, and Albany labels.
Bernofsky has taught at Boston University, the University of Maryland Baltimore County, The Peabody Institute, and Interlochen. She conducts at regional festivals and serves as a clinician at schools, festivals, and national conferences. Phoebe mendotaPhoebe Mendota has been singing joyfully since the age of two, and has formally studied voice with Amanda Biggs since the age of six. She has performed with BEAT’s Mini-Sync show choir, IU Children’s Choir, and the Unitarian Universalist Church of Bloomington’s Children’s Choir, as well as in BiggStudio voice recitals and countless basement, living room, and backyard performances. Phoebe is a second-grader at Templeton Elementary School. This is her first season performing with ROK.

Victoria Hilkevitch
Victoria Hilkevitch is Professor Emerita at the University of Indianapolis and Adjunct Professor at Indiana University. She earned her PhD. from Rutgers University in Lifespan Developmental Psychology and a Postdoc from the Midwest Council on Aging in Social Gerontology. She has played violin for fun and for the love of music since she was nine years old, with a 17-year break while raising her children and accompanying them to their Suzuki violin and cello lessons. She has always loved to play chamber music, and she enjoys spreading the joy of music as a first violinist in the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra. She also performs monthly at Congregation Beth Shalom in the chamber group, Shir Simcha. She joined ROK's "orchestra" last year (2017-2018), and she is loving to play the commissioned operas within its wonderful community of musicians.
